8”x10” palladium print from original 6x7 medium format negative
1/15 Limited Edition available.
Here we see the entrance to the miners shack at Blue Lizard Mine, located less than 100 meters from the adit. The Blue Lizard Mine was first discovered in 1943 by J. Wiley Redd. When active, the mine consisted of two distinct underground workings, which were large producers of uraninite and bornite. Subsurface depth reaches a maximum of 24 meters and extends 915 meters in length. The uranotype, “Uraninite with bornite inclusion, Blue Lizard Mine, Utah, USA” was taken from this location.
